Abstract

Accumulator reliability is important for engine starting, navigation lights, communication, and navigational devices on small fishing boats. This community service program aimed to strengthen the capacity of fishers from Kohod Village to inspect and maintain accumulators preventively. The activity was conducted on 14 July 2026 with a target of 20–30 fisher representatives; final attendance was not recorded consistently, so this range is treated as the program target. The program used Participatory Action Research with an andragogical strategy and a 30% theory/70% practice composition, including voltage measurement with a multimeter, terminal cleaning/protection, and electrolyte specific-gravity measurement. Evaluation involved pre-test, post-test, and practical skill assessment. Aggregate outcomes showed at least 80% technical understanding for voltage, electrolyte specific gravity, and state of charge; however, individual data, means, standard deviations, and the skill-test rubric were unavailable. Participants were provided with a pocket guide and a pocket multimeter/battery-service kit, while one- and three-month monitoring was planned. The findings support the practical value of training, but long-term effects on battery failures and electrical-system availability remain unmeasured.
