Abstract

Keterampilan masyarakat nelayan di Pelabuhan Cituis, Desa Surya Bahari, Kabupaten Tangerang, dalam menangani potensi bahaya kebakaran pada kapal tradisional. Kapal nelayan tradisional di wilayah ini memiliki risiko kebakaran yang tinggi akibat penggunaan bahan bakar minyak (BBM), aktivitas memasak di atas kapal, serta kondisi mesin yang sering kali sudah tua dan tidak terawat. Masalah utama yang dihadapi adalah rendahnya kesadaran nelayan akan prosedur keselamatan dan minimnya ketersediaan Alat Pemadam Api Ringan (APAR) di atas kapal. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penyuluhan teoretis mengenai penyebab dan pencegahan kebakaran, sesi tanya jawab interaktif, serta praktik simulasi pemadaman api menggunakan APAR yang dipandu oleh para cadet mahasiswa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta yang signifikan mengenai langkah-langkah darurat dan cara pengoperasian alat pemadam kebakaran. Melalui pelatihan ini, nelayan kini merasa lebih percaya diri dan proaktif dalam menjaga keselamatan diri serta aset kapal mereka selama beroperasi di laut.

 

This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the fishing community at Cituis Port, Surya Bahari Village, Tangerang Regency, in handling potential fire hazards on traditional ships. Traditional fishing vessels in this region carry a high risk of fire due to the use of fuel oil (BBM), cooking activities on board, and the condition of engines that are often old and poorly maintained. The main problem faced is the low awareness of fishers regarding safety procedures and the minimal availability of fire extinguishers (APAR) on board. The methods used include theoretical counseling on the causes and prevention of fires, interactive Q&A sessions, and fire-fighting simulation practices using fire extinguishers guided by student cadets. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of emergency steps and how to operate fire-fighting equipment. Through this training, fishers now feel more confident and proactive in maintaining their personal safety and ship assets while operating at sea.
