Abstract

Desa pesisir Karang Serang memiliki kekayaan sumber daya laut yang besar namun rentan terhadap ancaman abrasi dan degradasi lingkungan akibat akumulasi sampah serta perubahan iklim global. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi mengenai pentingnya ekosistem mangrove serta melakukan aksi nyata rehabilitasi kawasan pesisir melalui penanaman bibit pohon. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi sosialisasi teori, diskusi interaktif antara akademisi dan masyarakat, serta praktik lapangan penanaman mangrove secara berkelompok. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah tertanamnya bibit mangrove di area pesisir Desa Karang Serang yang berfungsi sebagai pemecah ombak alami dan penyaring polutan. Kesimpulan dari program ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran dan keterampilan praktis masyarakat dalam menjaga kelestarian laut yang diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak positif bagi ekosistem dan ekonomi lokal di masa depan.

 

Karang Serang coastal village possesses significant marine resources but is vulnerable to abrasion and environmental degradation caused by waste accumulation and global climate change. This community service activity aims to provide education on the importance of mangrove ecosystems and take concrete action in rehabilitating coastal areas through seedling planting. The methods employed include theoretical socialization, interactive discussions between academics and the community, and field practice of collective mangrove planting. The results of this activity include the successful planting of mangrove seedlings in the coastal area of Karang Serang Village, serving as natural wave breakers and pollutant filters. The conclusion of this program indicates an increase in community awareness and practical skills in maintaining marine sustainability, which is expected to yield positive impacts on the ecosystem and local economy in the future.
