Article Submission Guidelines

1. Title and Authors

  • The article title should be written in Times New Roman, 14 pt bold, using capital letters only for the first word and place names.
  • Author names should be written in Times New Roman, 11 pt bold. The author’s institution should be written in Times New Roman, 11 pt italic.
  • The corresponding author should be marked with an asterisk (*) and their email address should be in Times New Roman, 11 pt underline with a blue font color.

2. Abstract

  • The abstract must include the main problem, research objectives, research methods, and a brief summary of the research results.
  • The abstract must not exceed 200 words in either Indonesian or English.
  • The abstract should be written in Times New Roman, 11 pt italic, with a left margin of 30 mm and a right margin of 20 mm.
  • Keywords should be listed below the abstract, with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 words, arranged in alphabetical order.

3. Article Structure

The article must consist of the following sections:

  1. Introduction: General background, literature review, and research problem.
  2. Research Methodology: The methods used in the research, whether qualitative or quantitative, and the data analysis techniques.
  3. Results and Discussion: A detailed explanation of the research findings along with relevant discussion.
  4. Conclusion: A concise summary of the research findings, written in narrative form.
  5. References: All sources used in the research, formatted according to APA 7th Edition using Mendeley.

4. Layout and Writing Format

  • The article must be written in Times New Roman, 12 pt, single-spaced, justified, and in a single column.
  • The paper size should be A4 with margins of 20 mm for the top, bottom, and outside; and 30 mm for the inside.
  • Each new paragraph should be indented by 10 mm.
  • Foreign terms should be italicized.

5. Citation and Reference Writing Rules

Citation Writing in the Text

  • In-text citations:
    • If the citation source is mentioned at the beginning of the sentence, the format is: Last Name of the Author and the Citation Number in brackets. Example: Rajan and Kumar [1] concluded that EGR reduces ….
    • If the citation is mentioned at the end of the sentence, only the citation number is placed in brackets. Example: The heat rate turbine analysis has been extensively studied [3].
    • For citations with more than two authors, use "et al." after the first author's name. Example: Prasad et al. [2] investigated the reduction of NOx emissions from ….
    • Use citation numbers in the order in which they appear in the article.

Reference Writing Rules

  • Reference writing:

    • References should be written using Mendeley in the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition style.
    • References should be listed alphabetically, without numbering.
    • The first line of each reference should be aligned to the left, and subsequent lines should be indented by 10 mm.
    • No spaces should be left between individual references.
  • Reference formats:

    • Journal Articles:
      • Format: Author 1, Author 2, etc. (Year). Title of the Article. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), Pages.
      • Example: Rajan, K., & Kumar, S. (2009). The effect of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) on the performance and emission characteristics of diesel engine with sunflower oil methyl ester. International Journal of Chemical Engineering Research, 1(2), 31-39.
    • Books:
      • Format: Author. (Year). Book Title. Edition. Publisher: Place of Publication.
      • Example: Blau, P. J. (2009). Friction Science and Technology: From Concepts to Applications (2nd ed.). CRC Press: New York.
    • Thesis/Dissertation:
      • Format: Author. (Year). Title of Thesis/Dissertation. University: Place of Publication.
      • Example: Pasaribu, H. R. (2005). Friction and Wear of Zirconia and Alumina Ceramics Doped with CuO. PhD Thesis, University of Twente: Netherlands.
    • Website:
      • Format: Author. (Year). Title of the Article. Website Name. URL. Date Accessed.
      • Example: Anonymous. (2010). Renewable Energy. The Guardian. www.guardian.co.uk. Accessed: June 28, 2012.
    • Regulations and Laws:
      • Format: Regulation/Law Number and Year, Title of Regulation/Law, (Date of Enactment). Official Gazette Number, Issuing Organization, City.
      • Example: Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 51 of 2002 concerning Shipping. September 23, 2002. Official Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Year 2002 Number 95. Jakarta.

6. Image and Table Presentation

  • Images should be centered with the figure number and title placed below the image in Times New Roman, 12 pt bold. The spacing between the image and the caption is one line, and the spacing between the caption and the text below is also one line.
  • Tables should be centered with three horizontal lines and vertical lines as needed. The table title should be placed above the table, aligned to the left, and written in Times New Roman, 12 pt bold. There should be no spacing between the title and the table, but one line spacing between the table and the text below it.

7. Manuscript Submission

  • Manuscripts must be submitted online through the journal's website: https://ejournal.poltekpel-banten.ac.id/index.php/ejmi/.
  • Authors must register to obtain a username and password before submitting a manuscript.
  • Authors are allowed to submit a maximum of two articles per issue, with only one article as the main author.

8. Copyright and Originality

  • Articles published in the Marine Inside Journal cannot be published in other journals or magazines.
  • The editorial board is not responsible for any copyright infringement committed by the authors.

9. Acknowledgments

  • Authors may include acknowledgments to individuals or institutions that provided assistance, facilities, funding, or other support.

10. Mathematical Equation Formatting

  • Equations should be written using the Equation Editor in 12 pt, with 1.5 spacing before and after the equation. Each equation should be numbered at the right margin.
