https://doi.org/10.62391/ejmi.v7i1.96The purpose of this research is to discuss things that cause overflows in fuel oil purifiers, and also maintenance of purifiers to prevent overflows. Purifiers on ships are one of the auxiliary machines that have a very important role in separating fuel from air, mud and dirt. The use of clean fuel is to support the operation of the generator engine in producing perfect combustion, so that damage to the engine due to the use of unclean fuel can be reduced. In this case the author uses the hazop method and the Urgency Seriousness Growth (USG) Analyst, where this method is to look for the cause and effect of the problem and take several more dominant factors to analyze using the USG Analyst to look for problems and how overcome. The results obtained from this research indicate that the causes of overflow are dirty bowls, deadlocks in the nozzle on the bowl body
