Consistent and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by employees is key to preventing workplace accidents. This research is motivated by the importance of optimizing compliance with PPE use, which is influenced by internal and external factors in the work environment.
This study aims to analyze and test the influence of Socialization, PPE Comfort, and Supervision on Occupational Safety, mediated by the Optimization of Personal Protective Equipment Use among employees at PT. Savana Charta Indonesia.
This study used a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis (SPSS). Data were collected from employee respondents at PT. Savana Charta Indonesia. The independent variables tested were Socialization, Comfort, and Supervision, with Occupational Safety as the dependent variable.
The results of the study showed that the F-test showed that the variables of Socialization, Comfort, and Supervision simultaneously (together) had a significant effect on Occupational Safety (Sig. 0.000). The Coefficient of Determination (R2) of 0.684 indicated that 68.4% of the variation in Occupational Safety was explained by these three variables. Partially, Socialization (B=0.35, Sig. 0.000) was proven to be the factor with the most dominant influence in increasing PPE use and supporting occupational safety, followed by Supervision (B=0.31, Sig. 0.001) and PPE Comfort (B=0.29, Sig. 0.002). Challenges related to PPE Comfort were found, where 27% of respondents stated that the PPE provided was uncomfortable, potentially reducing compliance levels. Optimizing PPE use is highly dependent on ongoing and intensive Socialization efforts. It is recommended that companies re-evaluate the quality and size of PPE to improve comfort and strengthen consistent field supervision to achieve the Zero Accident target.
